Pawnee City City Hall

(KTNC) -  More homes in Pawnee City will be rehabilitated thanks to a grant the city is receiving from the Department of Economic Development.  City Clerk Tammy Stephens says they have been awarded a $310,000 grant to make repairs to 10 owner-occupied homes whose owners are at or below 80-percent of the area median income.
Types of repairs covered by the grants include structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing, as well as weatherization, general maintenance, handicap accessibility, repairs to relieve overcrowding, and to help with safety and code deficiencies.
Stephens says the award covers repairs costing up to $25,000 for each individual home.  Pawnee City has 23 pre-applications on file from a previous housing rehab grant and they will accept new pre-applications until they’ve awarded the 10 grants.  Applications not approved this year will be kept on file for future consideration.
