(MSC News)--An active weekend is planned, with communities across the local region holding special events.
Among the communities set to celebrate is Everest, where a “Fun Day” will be held Saturday.
Beginning at 7:00 with a Lion's Club pancake feed, the day will also include a 5K run/walk at 7:30, an afternoon hot rod car show, complete with awards, and a 5:30 barbecue dinner.
From 4 until 7:00, games and activities will be held, including a mechanical bull, a horseshoe tournament, a hayrack ride and a pedal power tractor pull.
The Everest Fun Day will wrap up with an American Legion Red Solo Cup event and dance, featuring music from the Vets, from 8 until midnight.
Also planned for Saturday is the 11th Annual Whiting Fire Festival, with numerous events set to happen in Whiting.
That includes a bake sale beginning at 8:00 in the morning, a tractor pull, train rides, and a parade at 1:00.
Prizes will be given away as part of the day's activities, with all proceeds going to the Whiting Fire Department.
Bluegrass and country music will kick-off the 11th annual Circlefest celebration, held in Circleville. That happens at 11:00, followed by the opening of a petting zoo at 2:30, a parade at 3:30 and entertainment at 4:00. 4:30 will see the start of both children's activities and a ribs and pulled pork sandwich dinner, with the free will donation earmarked for Circleville gym improvements.
Homemade ice cream will also be featured during the day, which also includes an apple baking contest.
