(KAIR)--A simple traffic stop leads to quite a bit more for a Huron couple.
According to Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson, an officer stopped a Dodge Avenger driven by 39-year-old Eldon Leger in the 600 block of Kansas Avenue for not having proper tags just after 10 Thursday night.
Upon investigation, the officer noticed an open container of alcohol in the vehicle and discovered what appeared to be a pipe used for smoking methamphetamine in the possession of the vehicle's passenger, 45-year-old Marlo Turner. Both were then transported to the Atchison County jail.
Leger faces a charge of transporting an open container, while Turner faces charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond has not been set for either individual at this time.
