SE Nebraska Arboretum Tours Scheduled this Week

(KTNC) - With fall colors just beginning to appear, the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum is offering free tours in southeast Nebraska this week.
 The tours are scheduled Thursday and Friday.
 On Thursday, tours will be held at the Governor Furnas Arboretum in Brownville from 10:00 a.m. till Noon and from 2:00 till 4:00 p.m. at the Itha Krumme Memorial Arboretum in Falls City. 
 People can also tour native woodlands and some burn management areas at Indian Cave State Park at 5:00 p.m. Thursday.
 Arboretum tours on Friday include Peru State College from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. and Nebraska City’s Arbor Lodge, High School Arboretum, and other community sites from 1:00 till 4:00 p.m.
 Each arboretum is different in appearance and mission and offers ideas about plant selection, landscape design and management. 
The Brownville Arboretum has a collection of more than 100 species of trees and shrubs, while the Krumme Arboretum features a collection of Nebraska native trees, shrubs, and prairie plants.  Participants are encouraged to come with questions, photos, or plant samples for discussion during the informal tours.
