Sasse Enters Nebraska Senate Race
(KTNC) - Midland University President Ben Sasse has officially kicked off his campaign for the Republican nomination United States Senate.
Sasse is claiming the title of the anti-Obamacare candidate. He served as Assistant Secretary of Health under President George W. Bush and says the Affordable Care Act needs to be overturned.
He says he plans to run as an outsider, and would serve as an outsider if elected. He criticized Washington, D.C., as a permanent political insider class.
Sasse enters a crowded Republican field, which includes former State Treasurer Shane Osborn, Omaha attorney Bart McLeay, and Omaha banker Sid Dinsdale. They hope to succeed Senator Mike Johanns, who is not running for reelection.
Sasse made his campaign official in Fremont. He is now on a statewide tour.
