(KAIR)--The Atchison police department responded to two separate cases of domestic violence over the weekend, resulting in two Atchison men being taken into custody. According Lieutenant Tim Stout from the Atchison police department, the first incident took place Saturday night just after 10:33 in the 700 block of South 5th Street. Police made contact with the female victim who told them that she had been battered by 53 year old Benjamin Romane. Romaine was taken into custody and transported to the Atchison County jail where he faces one charge of domestic battery.
Stout goes on to report that the second incident took place just before 8:00 Sunday morning in the 700 block of Q Street in Atchison. When officers arrived, it was discovered that there had been a domestic disturbance between 25 year old Patrick Whimley and a female victim. When officers investigated, it was discovered that Whimley had battered the victim and had refused to let her leave the residence. When officers handcuffed him, Whimley struggled with them, resisting arrest.
Whimley was transported to the Atchison county jail where he faces charges of domestic battery, criminal restraint, and interference with a law enforcement officer.
