(KAIR)--The Atchison county commission will be holding a special public hearing Tuesday afternoon to gather input from county residents in regard to the recent offer to sell the Atchison county lake. Commission Chair Jeff Schuele says that he expects, like most public hearings, to be those present who wish to express their own opinions, or those who will be speaking for a group of people, giving compelling reasons on what the county lake is used for and what should be ultimately done with it. He expects to be about a dozen to two dozen people in attendance.
Schuele also wanted to clear up some confusion about where exactly this lake is geographically. The lake in question is clear in the northwest corner of Atchison county, close to Horton, just south of the Brown county line. He says that he has received calls from concerned residents about the lake, who thought it was the State lake, off K-7 highway that was being discussed, not the county lake.
The Atchison county commission public hearing regarding the county lake will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 in the Atchison commission chambers at the courthouse.
