No Increase in Nemaha NRD Park Entry Fees
10/22/2013

(KTNC) - The Nemaha NRD Board has decided against increasing entrance fees to the NRD parks.  At its October meeting, the NRD Board discussed whether to increase the fees to enter Kirkman’s Cove, Iron Horse Trail Lake, and Wirth Brothers Lake.  After comparing the fees to other local, state, and federal parks, the board’s consensus was to leave the fees at their current rate of $5 for a two-day permit and $12 for an annual permit.
The board also reviewed the $10 per night charge for camping sites with electrical hook-ups at Kirkman’s Cove and Iron Horse Trail Lake.    They did not act to change the camping fee, but the issue will be discussed again at the board’s November meeting.
The NRD Board also deferred action on the audit report for the fiscal year that ended June 30.  Christy Haddan of Schulz and Associates presented the report.  The board opted to wait until November to approve the audit to give all directors a chance to review it in depth.
In action this month, the NRD Board contracted with Midwest Right-of-Way Services of Omaha to negotiate land rights acquisition for the Duck Creek project near Peru at a cost not to exceed $20,825.
The board approved a staff recommendation to contract with JEO Consulting to provide engineering services for a cost-share dam project on the Randy Gyhra property.  Their estimated fee was $17,000.
The board accepted a quote from M-and-M Trailer of Palmyra for a 24-foot gooseneck trailer at a total price of $4,995 with the trade of an old trailer.
And the NRD Board approved three permits for irrigation wells.  One of the wells is in Nemaha County and two are in Johnson County.
