(KTNC) - A new art exhibition will open in the Stalder Gallery of the Falls City Library and Arts Center on Friday.
The exhibit is titled “Beyond Regionalism: Recent Acquisitions to the Library Collection.” It will open with a gallery talk and reception beginning at 7:00 p.m. Friday. The exhibition will feature recent acquisitions to the Library and Community Foundation's art collection. According to Gallery Curator Christina Wertenberger, most of the pieces have been donated by benefactor merle Stalder.
She says the show will include works by artists including Thomas Hart Benton, Victoria Goro-Rapaport, and Sam Francis, along with many other renowned artists.
In addition to the art in the gallery, another piece of art will be featured at the opening. A sculpture by San Francisco-based artist Fletcher Benton will be on loan from the Flatwater Gallery in Brownville. It is located at the northeast corner of the Library.
Wertenberger credits Rita Seid for laying the groundwork to have the sculpture installed. Metzger Construction, Tri-State Electric, and long-time installation expert Steve Jensen completed installation and lighting of the sculpture.
Library doors will open at 6:00 p.m. Friday. Wertenberger will give the gallery talk about the exhibition.
There will be 30 pieces in the new exhibition and Wertenberger estimates there are more than 200 pieces of art in the Library and Community Foundation’s collection.
If you can’t make it to Friday’s Gallery Talk, you can check out the exhibition in the Stalder Gallery, during regular library hours, through the end of the year.
