(KNZA)--The Brown County Historical Society has opened a special traveling exhibit featuring items and artifacts from the Great Depression and World War II era.
“ Our Lives, Our Stories: America’s Greatest Generation” opened Sunday on the second floor of the Frances Sewell Plamann History Center at 701 Oregon Street in Hiawatha.
Along with the exhibit, the Historical Society will be hosting several other programs through December 11th that will explore topics within the exhibit. On Wednesday, November 13th public historian Susan Ford will present a program on World War II air bases in Kansas. It will be held at 6:30 that evening at the Francis Sewell Plamann History Center.
The exhibit will be on display through January 4th. It can be viewed Monday through Friday from 8 to 5 and Saturday from 10 to 2.
The exhibit is free thanks to several local sponsors, and is made possible by NEH on the Road, a special initiative of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
