(KAIR)--Kansas City Police identify the victim of a Monday morning crash on Interstate 435 as 18-year-old Rebecca Lueke, a freshman at Benedictine College.
Known to most as Becca, Lueke was recruited from Saint Teresa's Academy in Kansas City, Missouri, where she helped lead her team to the 5A Missouri District Championship.
According to the Kansas City Star, the fatal crash happened around 10:00 Monday morning, when Lueke was westbound on I-435, just east of North Congress Avenue, and lost control on the overpass. Her vehicle crossed the median and was struck by an eastbound semi.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities believe icy conditions at the time of the crash likely played a role.
