Pawnee City Council Reorganizes for Next Year

(KTNC) - The Pawnee City Council approved the recommendations for committee heads and appointed city officers Monday night. The committee heads remain the same, with Sandy Corbett-Sears in charge of Streets and Fire; Charlie Hatfield in charge of Parks and Swimming Pool; John Dahlgren in charge of Sewer and Library; and Deb Klein in charge of Water.
Committee appointments are also the same. Council members Hatfield and Klein are on the Law Enforcement Agreement Committee. Dahlgren is the council's liason to the Economic Development group. Corbett-Sears is on the Animal Control Board. And Klein is on the Assisted Living Committee.
Other city officials will also remain the same. Joe Stehlik was reappointed City Attorney and Jennifer Stehlik-Ladman Deputy City Attorney. Tammy Stephens was reappointed City Clerk. Evan Wickersham of JEO Consulting will continue as the Street Superintendent and JEO will be the consulting engineer.
Members of the Health Board and Reuse Committee also remain the same, and Deb Klein was elected to be the Council President for another year.
In other business, the council approved a motion to help the Fairview Golf Course stay afloat. Golf Course members had approached Council member Deb Klein asking for the city to consider paying the water bill. The council approved a motion to write off the water bills up to $500. The Fairview Golf Course is the only golf course in Pawnee County.
The council also approved a motion to pay the 2013 real estate tax statements. The city owns approximately 190 acres where the wells are located and another small parcel of land in town.
The council decided to hold off on purchasing a laptop computer for Shop Foreman Clint Johnson. The council purchased two computers for the city office last month and will consider the laptop purchase in the future.
