Timothy Haverkamp

(KLZA)--51-year-old Timothy Haverkamp, convicted for his roles in two cult-related murders in 1985, will have to wait a few more weeks to go before the Board of Pardons in Nebraska.

According to the Lincoln Journal Star, the Pardons Board ran out of time Wednesday and did not get through all 83 requests for pardons including Haverkamps.  The Pardon’s Board will meet again January 30th with Haverkamp’s application among the first to be heard that day.

Timothy Haverkamp was convicted of second degree murder in the 1985 murders of two people, 5-year-old Luke Stice and 26-year-old James Thimm, on a farm north of Rulo.  Haverkamp was paroled from the Nebraska State Prison in June, 2009 and has been working in Lincoln since that time.

Haverkamp was originally sentenced to a period of 10 years to life in prison for his part in the deaths.  He's seeking a pardon so he would have a chance at getting off of lifetime parole.

Haverkamp was part of a group of about 20 people living on the farm north of Rulo in the mid 80’s.  Three other members of the group, Jim Haverkamp, David Andreas and Dennis Ryan, were discharged with no parole 15 years ago or more.

Michael Ryan, the leader of the survivalist cult remains on death row in Nebraska.
