(KTNC)--Mound City Aldermen approved a new city policy that aims to keep sidewalks clear in downtown Mound City.
The Sidewalk Obstruction policy, approved last week, requires businesses to maintain a five-foot clearance on sidewalks in the business district. There is an exemption for items, such as benches, that are placed within three feet of the front of a business.
In other business, Aldermen accepted the bid of $13,428 from Certafoam for insulation at the new equipment building. Costs for the insulation will come from the Water Department, from funds that had been budgeted for a new roof on the Water Plant. The new roof will be postponed one year.
City Clerk Patsy Smith presented the financial report for the Mound City Pool, which shows a deficit of just over $13,000 for the year. Aldermen approved a motion to transfer funds from the Park Fund to cover the deficit in the Pool Fund.
Aldermen also approved merit pay of $500 for full-time city employees, and $50 for Reserve Police Officers, the Pool Manager and Building Inspector.
