The Midland Empire Chapter of the American Red Cross will be hosting its basic Disaster Services training course on Tuesday, January 21, 2014, in St. Joseph, MO. The purpose of this one day training is to provide people with information about the role of the Red Cross in disaster response, how to work as a part of a large scale feeding crew here in the Midland Empire or by traveling to a disaster relief operation somewhere else, and how to open and manage a shelter.
“We never know when a disaster might affect our community,” says Karla Long, Disaster Program Manager. “It’s important that communities prepare for what might impact them whether it be an ice storm, a spring flood or a tornado.”
This free training will be held on January 21, 2014, from 9 am – 4 pm at 401 N 12th Street in St. Joseph, MO. Registration is required by calling 816-232-8439 or by e-mail to karla.long@redcross.org
