(KAIR)--A longtime KAIR employee, who spent several decades as Chief Engineer and as an announcer for the station, passed away last week at the age of 93.
Larry Winegardner came to KAIR in the early fifties, and for the next 40 plus years, he did a little bit of everything. According to KAIR's Tom Kautz, he was a fixture in the building, the go to guy when it came to anything technology related. If something was broken, he fixed it promptly, and made sure it worked correctly.
Larry was also a well known announcer for the station. For years, every morning at 7:25, he hosted the outdoor report, a show where he enthusiastically discussed hunting, fishing, and various other outdoor activities. Kautz says that he had a voice made for radio. When he told you something, you knew it was right instantly.
Larry is survived by two sons, a sister, and three grandchildren.
Services will be held Saturday morning at 11:00 in the chapel of the Arensberg-Pruett funeral home.
