Three Arrested After Confrontation Near Verdon
01/14/2014

(KTNC) --  Three people are charged in connection with an alleged burglary in rural Richardson County late last week.

Richardson County Sheriff Randy Houser says 29-year-old Brandon Kopf, 26-year-old Deidra Kirkendall, and 30-year-old Amber Barr were arrested Friday, after a reported burglary at the home of Phillip Doerr on 713 Road near Verdon.

Doerr told authorities that he found the door to his residence had been forced open when he returned home at approximately 12:45 Friday afternoon and that several items, including a flat-screen television, were missing.

According to a probable cause affidavit, a car driven by Barr, with Kopf and Kirkendall as passengers, drove onto Doerr’s property while he was waiting for a deputy to arrive. Doerr confronted them and Barr attempted to back the vehicle away, but struck a post, impaling the rear bumper and trunk of the vehicle.

According to the affidavit, Doerr then contacted his father and retrieved a pistol from his vehicle.  The affidavit says Doerr and his father forcibly removed the three from the vehicle and ordered them to lie on the ground, which is where they were when officers arrived.

Following interviews, Kopf, Barr, and Kirkendall were arrested on charges of trespassing and possession of burglar’s tools.  The second charge was filed after Sheriff Houser says they found two pairs of bolt cutters in the trunk of the car.  Kopf also was charged with operating a motor vehicle during a period of suspension.

Sheriff Houser says  Kopf and Barr are persons of interest in several recent thefts, and Kopf is also being processed for probation violations in Kansas.   All three were booked into the Richardson County Jail.
