(KAIR)--The Atchison Police Department is continuing the investigation into the disappearance of 70-year-old Atchison resident Gary Sandy, who has been missing since December 31st.
Police Chief Mike Wilson says the department has received a number of leads and tips in the case since the silver alert was issued just before noon Friday, including one that has police believing Sandy's vehicle was spotted in the area of Newton in the early morning hours of January 11th. Police are tracking this lead, along with several others.
Wilson further states there are many different scenarios officials are following in their efforts to locate Sandy such as tracking financial records and medical facilities. However, there has been little in the way of progress.
Sandy is described as five foot eight inches tall, two hundred pounds, with balding brown hair. He is known to always wear a Kansas City Chiefs ball cap and jacket. He has a heart condition and is a diabetic. He is also know to frequent casinos.
Sandy's pickup truck, a gold colored 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 regular cab with Kansas tags 764-CVR is also missing. There should be damage to the left front fender and the left headlight is missing.
