(KMZA)--Two requests for appropriations from the Broxterman Estate funds were approved by the Nemaha County Commission this week.
The commission approved $6,500 to Nemaha County Fire District #2 for the installation of a helicopter pad in connection with the proposed new fire station the district is planning to build in Corning.
And the commission approved the appropriation of $3,695 to pay the tuition of six future Seneca EMT's necessary classes.
In other business, DOVES Executive Director Deb Duncan met with the commission to present the Atchison-based organization’s annual report and request financial support from the county.
DOVES provides domestic violence services in 4 counties—including Nemaha.
Duncan said they had 35 hotline calls from Nemaha County residents in crisis last year and sheltered five of them.
The commission voted to donate $2,000 to the organization.
