(KNZA)--A prominent Doniphan County resident remains hospitalized following a Sunday evening accident that happened 3 miles east of Highland.
Ted Collins, a Highland attorney, remains as a patient at the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas, where, at last check, he was listed in serious condition.
Collins suffered the injuries Sunday evening around 7:30 when he was attempting to move a tree, blown down by the evening's extreme winds, blocking his path on 240th Road.
Doniphan County Undersheriff Mark Allen says it was at that time a westbound vehicle, driven by Highland resident Cameron Twombly, struck both Collins and the tree in the roadway.
Collins was transported for hospitalized treatment.
Twombly was apparently not hurt.
Collins is well known throughout Doniphan County, serving as City Attorney for both Highland and White Cloud, along with other roles of leadership.
