(KAIR)--A pitbull named Junebug escapes from the backyard of an Atchison residence and ends up shot to death when police arrive after neighbors reported the dog at large.
That's the reason behind a Facebook page created this week called “Justice For Junebug,” described, on the page, as a “sweet, loving and affectionate” dog.
The arriving officers apparently saw it otherwise, leading to the use of force.
The shooting happened Saturday evening, and since that time the dog's owner, Carolyn McDaniel, has been searching for answers. “I can't believe this is happening,” McDaniel tells Kair Country News. “You [police] killed our family pet who was a part of our life.”
Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson declined to comment on the case due to pending municipal court charges.

The question I have for the officer and for Mike Wilson, Why was there two shots to the dog? Clearly the 2nd shot wasnt for compassion to put the dog out of misery.....

Funny how if you look at the of me being licked to death by the same family of dogs less than 10 minutes after meeting them for the first time.

The dog was not shot more than once, Im sure the dog was scared and all but as a pet owner it is your sole responsibility to manage and protect your pets this was clearly not the case in this. the officer felt threaten and did what he saw fit, end of story!!!

Our boxer dog was shot by Atchison police in 2010. We were not home and was told by police he was coming after them. They shot him first in back of the leg and I was told he continued to come after them. They then shot him two more times. Again I would believe dog shot in back leg clearly would of slowed him down. Family pet for 8 years and 5 children loved the dog. Atchison police was inhumane on what they did.

If I see a pitbull...its a dead pitbull. Only hoodie rats and trailer trash own the dang things anyway.
