(KTNC) -- The Falls City Council received the fourth quarter report from the Falls City Chamber of Commerce and Main Street organization Monday night. New Executive Director, David Branch, gave a rundown of highlights from late last year and told of some things the organization is working on presently.
Branch says they are continuing the process of merging the two organizations and hope to have that completed this year. He said he’s working on a few projects, including a business directory that will be distributed at various locations around town and a calendar of events that will be sent to all Richardson County residents a few times each year.
As for the Main Street Program, Branch says they’re trying to secure funding for the next phase of the project. He says they are waiting word from SENDD on one grant application. Branch says they’ve also applied for another $25,000 JOBS Grant that could benefit local businesses.
Branch says the Main Street Board has approved purchasing six or seven new trashcans for the downtown area to match the barrels installed as part of phase one of the Main Street project. He says they also hope to install some new way-finding signs to direct visitors and residents to various locations in town.
Branch began his report by congratulating the city for having its downtown district officially named to the National Register of Historic Places late last year. Branch took over the reins of the Chamber and Main Street organizations on January 6.
