(KAIR)--What started as a simple arrest for shoplifting lead to additional charges for an Atchison man.
The Atchison Police Department was called to Orscheln's, located at the 600 block of South Tenth Street just after 2:30 Tuesday afternoon for a report of an alleged shoplifting. Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson says when officers arrived at the scene, they took 31-year-old Thomas Lackey of Atchison, and 30-year-old Marcus Schaumberg into custody. Schaumberg had allegedly shoplifted some boots, while Lackey allegedly took some overalls and a shirt.
Wilson says that during the arrest, Lackey was found to have a small tin container that contained methamphetamine.
Both men were transported to the Atchison County jail. Schaumburg faces one charge of theft, and Lackey is facing one charge of theft, one charge of possession of methamphetamine and one charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
