Nemaha NRD Encourages Candidates to File for Board Seats
02/06/2014

(KTNC) --  The Nemaha Natural Resources District is reminding voters that there are several positions open on the NRD board, as the deadline approaches for candidates to file to run in this year’s election.
The Nemaha NRD is divided into 20 sub-districts, which are each represented by two members elected to four-year terms. The terms are staggered, with one seat in each sub-district up for election every two years.
In addition to those positions, there is one at-large position up for election this year, and two elections for directors to fill vacancies in sub-districts 4 and 10.
Sub-district 10 includes all of Falls City. The position is open following the recent resignation of Ted Godemann. Anyone interested in filling the vacancy can submit a letter of application to the NRD office. The board will consider appointing someone to fill the vacancy at its meeting on February 13.
Nemaha NRD Directors must live in the sub-district they wish to represent and be a registered voter that is qualified to hold elective office. Filing forms are available at the NRD office in Tecumseh or on the Secretary of State’s website.
Forms can be filed at the Secretary of State’s office. The filing deadline is February 18 for incumbents or March 3 for non-incumbents.
