(KAIR)--Members of the USD 409 School Board heard some very encouraging news at the start of their meeting Monday evening.
Superintendent Susan Myers says they heard a report telling them that except for some minor details, the construction projects going on at the high school and Roosevelt building are almost completely finished. Only some very minor items such as seeding on the grounds, which will take place this spring, remain.
Plans were also made regarding non academic activities in the district. Myers says the activities committee meet and discussed some possible directions the activity programs, which include clubs, athletics, and fine arts, could take. The board approved a first draft of a report from the committee, giving them the green light to develop about eight or nine strategies that could be turned into an action plan.
In other business, the board looked at calendars for the 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 school years, and while those calendars will come back for final approval next month, Myers says they mirror this year's calendar almost identically.
