02/07/2014

The Brown County Conservation District will be holding their FY2015 cost share sign-up February 20-March 7, 2014.

The sign-up period will be at the Conservation District office which is located in the USDA Service Center at 1310 Oregon St, Hiawatha, KS weekdays from 7:30 am – 4:00 p.m.

Brown County Conservation District administers two state cost share programs. One is the Water Resources Cost Share Program for traditional conservation practices designed to conserve soil and protect water resources. The other is the Non-Point Pollution Program which addresses plugging abandoned wells, upgrading failing home waste systems and upgrade of livestock waste facilities. This sign-up period will be for both programs.

Brown County landowners with concerns on their property are encouraged to visit the office during the signup to discuss solutions and possible state financial assistance.

Funding is provided for these programs by the State Conservation Commission through appropriation from the Kansas Water Plan Fund.
