Horton Man Indicted On Federal Charges

(KNZA)--A Horton man has been indicted on federal charges in connection with an alleged assault that occurred late last year. 

According to the office of U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom, 26-year-old William Blacksmith is charged with one count of assault occurring on the Kickapoo reservation, located west of Horton in Brown County. 

The indictment alleges that Blacksmith assaulted an Indian victim, identified only as J.E. in court records, on December 2nd. 

If convicted, Blacksmith faces a maximum penalty of 10-years in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000. 

The case was investigated by the Kickapoo Tribal Police Department.
