(KMZA)--The Nemaha County Commission has signed off on a grant application on behalf of Nemaha County Fire District #2 for construction of a new fire station in Corning.
The Commission Monday adopted a resolution which authorizes the submitting of an application to the Kansas Department of Commerce for a $300,000 KanStep grant, and for Commission Chairman Tim Burdiek to sign the necessary documentation.
If awarded, the fire district will provide a 40 percent match, amounting to about $180,000, in the form of volunteer labor.
The grant application is due March 1st, and the fire district should learn if its successful in 30 days.
