Doniphan Co Sheriff Getting Drug Dog

(KNZA)--The Doniphan County Sheriff’s Department is adding a K-9 unit to its department.

Sheriff Chad Clary told the Doniphan County Commission Monday that a drug detection dog has been donated to the county.

Clary says all the training of the dog and handler will be performed free of charge, as part of protocol for the training officer whose working towards his master’s program.

In addition, he says Nestle Purina of St. Joseph has agreed to donate the dog food at no cost to the county.

Deputy William Scott Hirtler will serve as the dog handler for the department.
