(KTNC) -- Monday was the deadline for non-incumbents to file to run for many elective offices in Nebraska, in May’s primary election.
In Pawnee County, there will be at least one new county officeholder and primary races for a couple countywide offices.
Candi Tuxhorn and Mary Sporhase, both Republicans, are running for County Clerk. Longtime Pawnee County Clerk Carol Young is not seeking another term.
There are also two Republicans running for County Treasurer – incumbent Cheryl Dahlgren and Stefanie Rauner. No Democrats are running for either of those positions.
Three other county offices are uncontested. Jonathan Bailey is the only candidate running for Assessor; Jennifer Stehlik Ladman is unopposed for County Attorney; and Jayme Reed is the only candidate running for Sheriff.
Kay Laun and Brad Stake have both filed to run on the Republican ballot for District Two County Commissioner. Jan Lang is running unopposed in Commission District Three.
In Pawnee City, five candidates are running for two city council seats: R.J. Hickey, Gale Nutter, Charlie Hatfield, John Wissler, and Mark Sunneberg, Junior.
Current Pawnee City Council member Deb Klein is running for Mayor. Duane Westing is not seeking another term as Pawnee City Mayor.
In School Board races in Pawnee County, four people are running for seats on the Pawnee City School Board and five people are running for seats on the Lewiston School Board.
