Authorities Alerted To Suspect Van
03/10/2014

(KNZA)--Local law enforcement agencies are notified to be on the look out for a van suspected to have been involved in a possible Pottawatomie County abduction attempt.

Sheriff Greg Riat says the incident happened March 6th when an 11-year-old girl was walking in the city of St. Marys.  On foot in an alley, she tells sheriff's investigators a white Chevy van turned down the same alley and drove towards her.

The girl, who cut through a yard to get away from the vehicle, says the van's male driver spotted her and stopped the vehicle yelling for her to come to him.

The girl began to run and made her way safely to her home.

Sheriff Riat says it's believed the dented and scratched van had three dark tinted windows on each side and may have a Nebraska license plate.

The driver, being sought for questioning, is described as a white male in his late twenties with a short brown goatee, wearing a black baseball cap and black sunglasses.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to notify the Pottawatomie County Sheriff's office at 785-437-2311 or other local authorities.
