Falls City School Board Accepts Resignations
03/11/2014

(KTNC) --  It will be a busy spring for Falls City School District officials, as they look to hire a new principal, at least three elementary teachers, a new Activity Director, and fill several other positions in the coming weeks.
The Falls City School Board accepted the resignation of North School Principal Ernie Valentine Monday night. Valentine has been with District 56 the past four years.
In addition to being a principal, he has also been the special education director for one year, the assessment director for three years, a volunteer and head wrestling coach, and middle school football coach. Valentine has accepted an elementary principal position in David City.
The district is accepting applications to fill the North School Principal position through March 21 and the board plans to interview candidates on April 12.
In addition to accepting Valentine’s resignation, the Falls City School Board also accepted the resignations of three elementary teachers – 2nd grade teacher Synneve Yoder, 5th grade teacher Laurel Valentine and South School teacher Marilyn Scholz.
The board had planned to interview candidates for the Activities Director and High School Physical Education position this week, but those interviews have been pushed to next week due to the State Basketball Tournament.
High School Principal Gale Dunkhas recommended three people to fill coaching vacancies. Those are Kory Huppert to be the head baseball coach and Allison Roland to be the cheerleading sponsor for 2014-2015, and Amanda Merz to be an assistant track coach this spring.
The School Board Monday approved a motion to extend a contract to Kelly Juilfs to be the School Psychologist. Juilfs has been an intern in the district this past school year.
