(KTNC) -- A partnership will bring an expanded welding class to Falls City this summer. The classes will be held at Falls City High School, in collaboration with Southeast Community College.
Falls City EDGE Executive Director Beckie Cromer says officials from Falls City, Auburn, and Nebraska City have been working with SCC for nearly a year to improve the welding course offered in the area.
The class will be a 60-hour class, tailored to meet the needs of local industries such as Airlanco, WASP, and Herzog.
In addition to industry, Cromer says this could benefit those looking for employment opportunities, including high school graduates who may not have made other plans or adults who may be looking to improve their skills.
As part of the class, the college will purchase new welders and a metal worker for the Industrial Arts classroom at Falls City High School.
The class will be able to accommodate four-to-eight students and will be offered in June. Cromer says they’re also looking for an instructor. Anyone interested in teaching the welding class can contact the Falls City EDGE office for more information.
