Kansas farmers who raise crops with high sensitivity to herbicide and chemical exposure should plan to participate in a webinar March 27, 2014 at 2 p.m. to learn more about the newly launched DriftWatch specialty crop site registry program in Kansas.
The Kansas Department of Agriculture Pesticide and Fertilizer program will share information about this new service for Kansas and explain the benefits of participating in the Drift Watch program. Presenters will describe how growers can register their farms and how the service can assist commercial applicators in identifying these sensitive crop areas. The DriftWatch registry tool is intended to assist pesticide applicators and specialty crop growers to effectively promote awareness and stewardship activities to help prevent and manage drift effects.
There is no charge to participate in this program. To register for the webinar online, go to http://agriculture.ks.gov/divisions-programs/pesticide-fertilizer/sensitive-crops
The webinar will be hosted via a third party vendor and may require additional downloads for optimal viewing of the presentation. Participation is limited and those who wish to participate should register early. For those interested in the information, but unable to attend the webinar will be available on the website after the event.
In addition, a second applicator-focused presentation will be available on the website to explain the DriftWatch registry tool to applicators and how it will help them with their applications.
