Nauman Appointed to MC Alderman Position
03/17/2014

(KTNC) --  Mound City has a new Alderman. Mayor Chris Krueger appointed Duane A. Nauman to fill the South Ward Alderman position and fellow aldermen unanimously approved the appointment last week.
Nauman fills the position formerly held by Jason Bierman, who resigned last month. Nauman will supervise the water and sewer departments.
In other business last week, Mound City School Superintendent Ken Eaton asked the city about designating the parking area on the east side of Nebraska Street south of 8th Street for loading and unloading in the morning and afternoon. The school hopes that would alleviate congestion when parents pick up and drop off children before and after school.
City Attorney Brian Tubbs told the council that since the area is not technically on the street, the school is free to designate the loading and unloading area and enforce restrictions without city action.
Mound City officials have also asked school officials about the new solar system being installed on the roof of the gym and Ag building. Aldermen agreed to research the program, which cost the school nothing and may be available to governments.
