Woman Arrested After Found Hiding in Freezer

 (KLZA) -- A Tecumseh, Nebraska woman wanted on a felony warrant was taken into custody after she was found hiding in a freezer.

According to a release from the office of Johnson County Attorney Julie  Smith,  38-year-old Lindsi A. Wiegert, also known as Lindsi A. Jiminez, was arrested eariler this week in St. Mary, Nebraska.

An arrest warrant for Wiegert was issued May 1st of last year on  a felony charge of fraud to obtain assistance of $500 or more.

Johnson County Sheriff Scott Walton arrested Wiegert Sunday at the home of 42-year old Dennis McKinney of St. Mary.  She was found hiding in a freezer in the basement of the home.  McKinney was arrested on a misdemeanor charge for harboring an escapee / fugitive.  McKinney posted bond of $500 and was released.

The charge against Wiegert stems from an investigation by the State of Nebraska, Department of Health and Human Services.  Wiegert is accused of receiving more than $3,000 in SNAP or food stamp payments and $1,401 in ADC, Aid to Dependent Children benefits for two minor sons she claimed lived with her in August 2011 and July 2012. The investigation alleges that one of the minor children was in fact living for at least part of the time with the defendant’s sister and brother-in-law.

Wiegert was scheduled for a bond hearing Wednesday in Johnson County Court.
