(KLZA) -- Richardson County Commissioners will meet Tuesday morning with representatives of the Omaha-based architectual firm Prochaska & Associates who asked to be put on the agenda to discuss the proposed jail project.
Last week Commissioners signed a contract with Goldberg Group Architects of St. Joseph, Missouri to proceed with a preliminary design for converting the armory on the west edge of Falls City into a new jail and law enforcement center.
Prochaska and Associates was paid $30,000 to conduct a needs assessment review for a new jail, a step required by the state of Nebraska. Prochaska and Associates had submitted proposals for a new jail and law enforcement center that was estimated to cost $3.6-million.
Under the plan proposed by the Goldberg Group, if the project moves forward, they are hoping the project could begin in September and come in at a cost of $2.1-million.
