Funding Provided to Repair Horton Senior Center Roof

(KNZA)--The Brown County Commission has agreed to provide the funding necessary so the leaky roof at the Horton Senior Citizen Center can be repaired.

The Commission voted unanimously on Monday to provide $9,000 in funding for the project, with the funding to come from the Commissioner’s budget.

The Horton senior citizens have obtain a bid from Holton-based ADS Distributing to replace the roof for a total cost of $16,451.

In addition to the county funding, $5,000 will come from a matching grant from the Kansas Department on Aging and $2,000 from donated funds. 

In other business, Duke Koerperich with Hiawatha-based Town and County EMS met with commissioners to inform them he’s  looking at replacing an ambulance that’s about 25 years old. Koerperich said he would like to purchase a 2009 ambulance with 50,000 miles from a fire department in Maine at a cost of $82,500.

He said he plans to put $10,000 down, and would like to finance the remainder through a lease-purchase arrangement with the county. The commission gave their approval to the purchase.
