(KTNC) -- Pawnee City will begin saving money for future expenses. The City Council approved a resolution on Monday to set up a General Reserve Account Fund.
The city will set aside $500 a month, which will be used for future capital expenditures such as vehicles or mowers, and other General Fund expenses.
City Auditor Julie Bauman recommended the council set up the reserve account.
The council received an update on two city crewmembers that have been off work due to injuries for the past several months.
City Clerk Tammy Stephens says one had a doctor’s appointment today (Tuesday) and could be cleared to return to work by the end of the month. The other city employee has a doctor’s appointment scheduled at the end of the month.
The council scheduled interviews this week with six applicants for lifeguard positions this summer. The Pawnee City pool will open for the season the Saturday before Memorial Day.
And the council discussed the recommendation of the Animal Control Board to change the ordinance pertaining to dog licensing.
The changes include dropping the senior citizen age from 65 to 55 years old, and changing the dog licensing fees to allow people who move to Pawnee City between July and December to pay half price to license their animal.
The Animal Control Board approved the changes at its meeting earlier this month and the City Council will formalize the amended ordinance at its next meeting.
