( KNZA)--A September jury trial has been set for a Topeka man accused of the rape and torture of a Holton woman.
Following his preliminary hearing Thursday, Jackson County Attorney Shawna Miller says 35-year-old Filip Rosario was bound over to Jackson County District Court on eight felony counts—including attempted capital murder, two counts of aggravated criminal sodomy, two counts of rape, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated battery and criminal threat.
District Judge Mike Ireland entered a “ not guilty” plea on behalf of Rosario to the charges. Miller says a jury trial was scheduled for September 16th-19th.
Authorities say the crimes occurred on December 19th and 20th of last year. The victim was treated at Topeka hospital for injuries and released.
Rosario remains in the Jackson County Jail on $500,000 bond. However, Miller says his attorney is expected to file a motion for a bond reduction.
