(KAIR)--The Atchison County Sheriff's Department has partnered with the Drug Enforcement Agency and CVS Pharmacy for the annual National Drug Takeback program.
The event is scheduled for Saturday April 26th from 10:00am to 2:00pm in the parking lot of the Atchison CVS at 400 South Tenth Street.
Prior the designated day, there will be a two week period when people can take medications to the Atchison County Sheriff's Department for disposal. That starts Monday and will continue each weekday from 8:00 in the morning until 5:00 in the evening. Sheriff Jack Laurie says they will be taking all types of medications including prescription medications that are expired and medications you may no longer use.
Laurie says names, or other identifying information, does not have to provided when medication is dropped off.
The medication collected will then be disposed of on the April 26th take back day.
Syringes will not be accepted.
