NRD Board Seeking Proposals to Repair Steamboat Trace Trail
04/14/2014

(KTNC) --  The Nemaha Natural Resources District is seeking Requests for Proposals for engineering services to fix a problem area on the Steamboat Trace Trail.
The project would include helping with preliminary designs and finding and developing grant applications to address an erosion and drainage issue impacting the trail north of Brownville between Honey Creek and Weldon Creek. Proposals should be available for the board to review in May.
The NRD Board has authorized another request for proposals to hire a qualified surveyor to complete work on the Duck Creek project. Those proposals also should be available for review at the May board meeting.
In action this month, the NRD Board approved the bid of $4,100 from B.A.B. Incorporated of Adams to repair a dam on Spring Creek, located in Johnson County northwest of Johnson.
The work involves repairing erosion to the face of the dam and the emergency spillway. Work should be complete in about a month.
The board reviewed a dozen potential dam rehabilitation projects submitted to the Natural Resources Conservation Service to be considered for assessment or full rehabilitation. The new Farm Bill included a substantial allocation for dam rehabilitation projects.
