Mound City Aldermen Approve Ordinances
04/14/2014

(KTNC) --  Mound City Aldermen approved three ordinances last week during their regular April meeting.
The council approved an ordinance to award the contract to replace the roof over the Swimming Pool Bathhouse. The contract was awarded to Edge Contractors, which submitted the only bid, for $21,690. The council also agreed to hire J-and-E Concrete to replace the concrete pad at the pool entrance for $2,100.
The council approved another ordinance to accept the re-plat of lots one through eight in Plat 2 of the Byron Addition. The lots were resized to coincide with landowners to the west who are interested in purchasing the additional property. The Planning Commission had recommended approval of the re-plat.
The Planning Commission also recommended amending the subdivision regulations to require five-foot sidewalks in new developments. The council will hold a public hearing in May to discuss the proposal.
Aldermen also approved an ordinance last week to adopt a revised Code of Ordinances.
In other business, Mound City Aldermen approved a motion to renew the solid waste contract with Stuart Disposal for another year. There will be no increase in the residential trash rate in Mound City.
Aldermen accepted the bid of $3,520 from Liquid Engineering Corporation to clean and inspect the water tower and clear well.
Police Chief John Panning told the council that he is still looking for someone to fill the open Police Officer position.
The Mound City Police Department will participate in the Drug Take Back event on April 26.
