Falls City Council Approves Additional Engineering Costs
04/22/2014

(KLZA) -- On the recommendation of the Falls City Board of Public Works, Falls City Council members unanimously Monday evening approved an additional $67,000 for engineering services for wellfield and water treatment plant improvements at the Rulo water plant.

Utility Superintendent Alan Romine explained original the city was looking at raising four wells or replacing them with elevated wells which would protect the water supply in case of another major flood along the Missouri River. When the City decided to go forward with a collector well, the State of Nebraska came to do an inspection and gave the city a deficiency for not having backup power at the water plant.

The backup generator was included in the plans for upgrades, but due to the time requirement it was broken off as a separate project, and required more engineering time.

The generator work is to be completed in the next two weeks.
