(KNZA)--Seven years of service came to an end Monday as Horton City Commissioner Jeremy Forkenbrock said his goodbyes.
Forkenbrock was defeated in his run for re-election as Police Commissioner earlier this month.
Following fond farewells voiced by his fellow commissioners, City Clerk Kim Clausen, Police Chief John Calhoon and City Streets and Utilities Director Rex West, Forkenbrock began a five minute plus farewell address, thanking the residents of Horton and those with which he's worked, while focusing on the accomplishments made during his seven years. “It was a great experience. I honestly didn't know what I was getting into when I took it, but I'm glad I did it,” Forkenbrock said. “I'll be active in other roles. I won't go away. There's plenty of other things I can do, [but] I'll probably take a break initially. I've got plenty of other job and personal things to do.”
Following his comments, Forkenbrock was presented with a plaque of appreciation by Streets and Utilities Commissioner Wade Edwards.
Forkenbrock fell to Bryan Stirton in this month's election.
Stirton, who was in attendance during Forkenbrock's final meeting Monday, will begin his role as Police Commissioner on May 5th.
