(KLZA) -- Work is to begin in the next couple of weeks on U.S. Highway 136 from Brownville to Auburn according to the Nebraska Department of Roads.
Constructors Incorporated of Lincoln has the $4,968,000 contract for the 10-mile highway improvement project. Mike Habegger of Tecumseh will serve as project manager for the Nebraska Department of Roads. He said the planned start date of April 28th has been delayed just a bit due to cement cutting crews being sent to work on a project north of Nebraska City. Habegger describes the work to be done as patching and cross-stitching. Bad spots will be cut out and then replaced. The work will begin at Brownville and proceed west to the city limits of Auburn
Once the patching is completed the highway will be resurfaced.
Traffic will be maintained at all times on U.S. – 136. Pilot cars and flaggers will be used during the concrete patching, bridge overlay and asphalt overlay operations.
Motorists are reminded that fines for speeding are doubled in work zones when workers are present and to be aware of construction vehicles entering and exiting construction work zones.
Work is anticipated to be completed this fall.
