Falls City Police Department Investigates Injury Accidents

(KLZA) -- The Falls City Police Department had a busy weekend responding to automobile crashes.Two of the calls involved injuries.

Friday morning shortly before 11 officers responded to a call at the parking lot at the Post Office in Falls City. 

Witnesses told the Police Department they witnessed the driver, 39-year old Neil Russell of Falls City slumped over the steering wheel of a pickup that struck the loading bay at the Post Office.  

Russell was transported to Community Medical Center in Falls City by the Falls City Volunteer Ambulance Squad due to a possible neck injury.  No other vehicles were involved.

According to a police report, Russell's vehicle was northbound on Harlan Street prior to the wreck.  The tires on the vehicle began to spin in the Post Office parking lot and then struck the loading bay.

The driver was not wearing safety restraints.  No citation was immediately issued but the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Sunday evening shortly after 5:30 officers were called to 23rd and Harlan Streets. A northbound car driven by 36-year old Brandie Kratz of Falls City was turning to go west on 23rd Street. Kratz told the officer there was another car going south and turning left onto 23rd Street and she did not see a motorcycle driven by 62-year old James Elder of Tarkio, Missouri until the vehicles collided.

Elder was transported to Community Medical Center for treatment of non-disabling injuries.  Kratz was issued a citation.
