(KAIR)--A three vehicle Friday evening crash on U.S. Highway 73 near Atchison's Meadowlark Lane leaves six injured, including two 11-year-old children.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reports that 50-year-old Sharon Hurst of Effingham was southbound on the highway when she stopped to make a left hand turn and was rear ended by a vehicle driven by 27-year-old Paul Snider of Hiawatha. The impact pushed Hurst’s vehicle over the center line where it collided with a north bound vehicle driven by 59-year-old Debra Pennell-Duncan of Hiawatha.
Snider, and two 11-year old passengers in his vehicle, Ashley Snider and Francis Gonzales, both from Hiawatha, were transported to the Atchison Hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. Two passengers in Hurst’s vehicle were also transported to the Atchison Hospital. 20-year-old Mary Earl of Effingham suffered unspecified injuries in the wreck, and 51-year-old Mark Hurst, also of Effingham, suffered possible injuries. A third passenger, 17-year-old John Earl of Effingham was transported to Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph for disabling injuries.
Both Sharon Hurst and Pennell-Duncan were not injured.
The Patrol says everyone was properly restrained.
