Stewart Wins Democratic AG Primary
05/13/2014

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - Attorney Janet Stewart of Fremont has won the Democratic primary race for Nebraska attorney general.
Stewart defeated Lincoln attorney Al Eurek, and now advances to the November general election. Both were vying to replace Republican Attorney General Jon Bruning, who chose to run for governor instead of seeking re-election.
Stewart, of Fremont, spent 24 years as an attorney with Mutual of Omaha and two with Ceres Group, a health and life insurance company, before joining her husband in a Fremont law office. She ran for secretary of state in 2010 but lost.
Eurek, of Lincoln, is a U.S. Naval Academy graduate who earned a law degree from University of Nebraska. He ran unsuccessfully for attorney general in 1990 and secretary of state in 1994.
