Pounds Wins Richardson County Sheriff Race
05/13/2014

(KTNC) -  There will be a new Richardson County Sheriff.
State Patrol Investigator Don Pounds won a three-way Republican primary with 54-percent of the vote, defeating incumbent Randy Houser and Falls City Mayor Tim Hersh.
Pounds received 684 votes; Houser received 335 votes and Hersh 237 votes.
No Democrats filed to run for the seat, so the winner of the Republican primary will be the Richardson County Sheriff in January.
In other races, Richardson County Republicans favored Ben Sasse in the GOP Senate Primary and Beau McCoy won a plurality of votes in the six-man GOP race for Governor.
Nearly 1,300 Richardson County Republicans voted in Tuesday’s primary. Overall voter turnout in the county was just under 30-percent.
